Addressing the needs of vulnerable and disabled children
through funding and volunteering
Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world.
It is estimated that more than one million of its children have been orphaned as a result of the AIDS pandemic.
Many can be looked after by impoverished relatives if some financial support can be provided. Others finish up
on the streets if they are unable to find a place in a children's home. An unknown number of children are
disabled, with little access to the support services we take for granted.
Kids Aid Tanzania is a British registered charity (No.1111220) formed in 2005
to help Tanzanians who are tackling poverty and disability amongst vulnerable children but whose work falls
outside the funding strategies of the major aid agencies. Applicants are always visited to establish
their good standing in their local communities, a costed programme of support is prepared with them, and funding is only provided
after a robust system has been implemented to account for the proper use of donors' money.
