In 2015 KAT purchased a plot of land in Busisi, a rural area adjacent to Lake Victoria in North West Tanzania, to build a pre-school and a teacher's house. The need had already been established by a pre-school already operating in a dilapidated rented building. An appeal for money to build was taken up by Ilkeston Rotary Club who undertook the task of appealing to Clubs in District 1220 to help support the project. 20 Rotary Clubs and a number of individual Rotarians gave donations or held fundraising events and a grant was obtained from the Rotary Foundation. The pre-school was opened in April 2017 with two classrooms for 50 children, a small office and storeroom, and toilets. It is connected to mains water and has solar powered electricity.
